When my wife and I first saw this place we absolutely loved it. It had this Hamptons beach cottage feel and we knew we had to have it. This 1980s home had the right bones but was definitely run down, being tenanted most of its life. We kicked off by completely remodelling the kitchen, increasing the space by removing the hot water cylinder and running the house on gas. We wanted to make this the hub of the home so size mattered as well as creating an island to sit around. We updated all the appliances and sanded and varnished timber floors bringing out a much lighter colour. We painted right through, lighting up the place as we had a lot of dark timber to start with. With new lighting and pendants giving the home a more up to date modern feel. We updated the bathroom, simplicity was the key and keeping within budget was important. As a family the tv room can be a great place of entertainment, so we opened up the lounge and built-in an enclosed wall around a 65-inch tv to really create that cinema feel for all to enjoy.
